35 years as the secretary of the Town Council in Esch.
35 years of experience as a secretary in the second biggest town in Luxembourg, a rewarding and interesting period I wouldn’t miss.
A well diversified job that enriched my life and that gave plenty of satisfaction where I could meet lots of people and make precious friends who remain important to me, even now that I have left my position. To put it briefly a fantastic job.
In all those years I have worked for 4 Mayors, 16 Aldermen and 65 Councillors.
A short description of my functions: in charge of the “minutes” of all decisions taken by the aldermen and the mayor, town council meetings and daily correspondence, tuition and formation of young colleagues at the INAP and within our own administration, member of numerous examination boards, various publications and conferences.
I might point out my efforts to simplify the work of the members of the town council, the first body of the institution by introducing a concise file for the meetings and last but not least, recently we went online (e-council) which enables citizens to have direct access to all decisions taken, minutes after the meeting:
All this was only possible because for me team spirit was always essential and therefore I can only congratulate my colleagues and express my gratitude for their most competent help and assistance all over these years.
All the tasks listed above help to improve the quality of life of the citizens but you will agree that a positive image of your home town also matters. I had the honour to in charge of the organization of the visits of her Majesty the Queen , Elisabeth II, Juan Carlos, the King from Spain, Richard von Weizecker, President of the German Federal Republic, Pope John-Paul II, the President of the Popular Republic of China Chinese Li Xian Nian and the President from Portugal Jorge Sampaio , just as well as many other official Festivities like the National Holiday and the reception of many Ambassadors and other officials.
The knowledge and experience gained over these 35 years, I want to put them at the disposal of all citizens of the country especially on the social and the culturel level.
A new start in my life and career hopefully.
